Lee Chong Wei

Lee Chong Wei (Chinese李宗伟/李宗伟, Pinyin lǐ Zongwei; born October 21, 1982 in Bagan Serai, Perak ) is a Malaysian Badminton player.

Career

On August 17, 2008 Lee Chong Wei lost the final of the Men's Single Page at the Summer Olympic Games in Beijing, the Chinese Lin Dan clearly in two sentences. For winning the silver medal, he was the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Najib Razak, awarded as " national hero " and bestowed on him the title Datuk. In the Olympic final in London in 2012, he was also subject to Lin Dan in the final and had to settle back with the silver medal.

On 29 June 2006, he was first performed at number one of the badminton world rankings. He is the third Malaysian badminton players in this position since the introduction of the official rankings in the 1980s and the first Malay ever who could hold this position for more than two weeks. In 2011 he became vice world champion in singles, 2012 Vice Olympic Champion.

In 2013 he won at the Malaysia Open and the Korea Open. In the Yonex Australia Open 2013 he lost in the semifinals against the Chinese Tian Houwei. The Indonesia Super Series 2013, he won against Marc Zwiebler the final in straight sets.

Private

On November 10, 2012, he married the former badminton player Wong Mew Choo.
