Lee Kerslake ( born April 16, 1947 in Bournemouth ) is an English drummer. He played for many years with the band Uriah Heep.

Life

Lee came in late 1971, after an LP with the National Headband to Uriah Heep, who had consumed alone four percussionists in the first two years of its existence. Lee was the desire of the Heep drummer musician. Ken Hensley had worked with him in the years 1968-1970 successfully in the bands The Gods, Machine Head and Toe Fat. Together with bassist Gary Thain Lee formed in the years of the rise of the musical backbone of the band and he was the drummer on the main Uriah Heep albums. For him, the term "body drumming " was coined because he seemed to play not only with arms and legs, but started his entire body.

In October 1979, he left the band for a short time, but returned in April 1982 back. During this time he played for Ozzy Osbourne, among others with the he recorded the album Blizzard Of Ozz. Later it came to legal wrangling with Ozzy Osbourne because of the musical exploitation rights, however, were decided in favor of Ozzy Osbourne.

2003 and 2004 was Kerslake drummer of Living Loud project, which is also guitarist Steve Morse and keyboardist Don Airey (both from Deep Purple ), bassist and songwriter Bob Daisley (including also Uriah Heep and Ozzy Osbourne ), and Cold Chisel singer Jimmy Barnes involved. This supergroup played on their only album, among others some songs from the time Kerslakes and Daisleys with Ozzy Osbourne new, as both of them it had already been presented at that time, but could not convert.

In spring 2007, Uriah Heep announced that Kerslake has withdrawn because of his persistent health problems. Kerslake but continues to play the drums, now the band Masters Project.
