Lehnice

Lehnice ( German Village Place, Hungarian LEG) is a municipality in Okres Dunajská Streda of Trnavský kraj in southwestern Slovakia, with 2551 inhabitants ( 31 December 2011).

Geography

The municipality is located in the middle of the Great Rye Island, a river island of the Danube, which is a part of the Slovak Danube lowland, just 13 kilometers from the city Dunajská Streda.

History

Lehnice was made in 1940, then under the Hungarian name LEG (see First Vienna Award ), through the merger of several places: Maly Leg (Hungarian Kislég ), Velky Leg ( Nagylég ) and Sása ( Szász ). 1951, the church today Blahová was spun and 1960 Masníkovo ( until 1948 slovak " Prednej Potôň ", Hungarian Előpatony ) incorporated.

The first written record comes from the year 1239, as Leguminosae. Since the early 14th century, the separation of the main town Leg into two parts is known.
