Łękwica

Łękwica, also Lękwica ( German Lankwitz, Kashubian Łenkwicô ) is a village near the city of Slupsk ( Stolp ) in the Pomeranian Voivodeship in Poland.

Geographical location

The village is located in Eastern Pomerania, about 15 kilometers northeast of Slupsk and six kilometers south of the Jezioro Gardno ( Garder lake ).

History

The village was created as a dispersed settlement. In a deed of gift of 1493, the town that was once an ancient fief of the Bandemer family appear under the location name Lanckewitze. Around 1784, there was a Lankwitz Vorwerk, a full farmers, half peasant, two Kossäten and a total of six households. Around this time, the village was owned by the Supreme Ernst Ludwig von Bandemer, who had bought it from a members of his family for 3,000 dollars. By 1825, the village was owned by the Bandemer family. In 1858 the estate was bought by a Mr. Bright. After that, the owners changed several times.

In 1925 were in Lankwitz 33 residential buildings. In 1939 167 residents were counted here, living in 34 households. Apart from the good which was 178 acres in size, there was in Lankwitz twenty farms. In 1938 Artur swordmaker was the owner of Gutsbetriebs.

Before 1945 Lankwitz belonged to the district of Stolp, administrative region of Pomerania, Pomerania. The municipal area was 510 hectares. Lankwitz was the only town in the municipality Lankwitz.

Lankwitz was occupied towards the end of World War II on March 9, 1945 by the Red Army. Since the town was located on the Baltic Sea in the Russian military area, the villagers their village on March 29, 1945 had to leave temporarily. The villagers came to a concentration camp after Starnitz in Stolp, where about 1,000 people were housed. Many died here of typhoid. In early May were the Lankwitzer back home. In the fall of 1945, the Poles came. The inhabitants were dispossessed and displaced. Lankwitz was renamed Łękwica.

86 and originating in the GDR 41 Lankwitz villagers were later identified in the Federal Republic of Germany.

The village has about 60 inhabitants.

Church

The population before 1945 in Lankwitz present was predominantly Protestant. In 1925, the village had only two inhabitants are Roman Catholics. Lankwitz was the parish of Great Guard affiliated and thus belonged to the church Stolp -Altstadt.

School

Before 1945 Lankwitz had an elementary school. This was one stage in 1932; at this time taught a single teacher 47 school children.
