Lendak
Lendak ( Landeck German, Hungarian Lándok - to 1902 Landok ) is a municipality in eastern Slovakia, with 5033 inhabitants ( 31 December 2011) and population, one of the largest non-urban communities in the country.
Geography
The municipality is located in the northwest part of the basin Popradská kotlina at the foot of Belianske Tatry and Zipser Magura, 3 km from Tatranská Kotlina, a district of Vysoke Tatry (the center is 19 km away ) and 17 km from Kežmarok. Lendak is just outside the boundaries of the Tatra National Park.
History
The village was first mentioned in 1288 as Landok.
