Leonard Boyle (bishop)

Leonard Anthony Boyle ( born November 17, 1930 in Nightcaps ) is Bishop Emeritus of Dunedin.

Life

The Bishop of Dunedin, John Patrick Kavanagh, ordained him a priest on 29 June 1961 and was incardinated in the Clergy of the Diocese of Dunedin. Pope John Paul II appointed him on 27 January 1983, Coadjutor Bishop of Dunedin.

The Bishop of Dunedin, John Patrick Kavanagh, ordained him on 3 May of the same year to the bishop; Co-consecrators were James Darcy Cardinal Freeman, Archbishop of Sydney, and Thomas Stafford Williams, Archbishop of Wellington.

After the death of John Patrick Kavanagh, he followed him on 10 July 1985 as Bishop of Dunedin to and he was introduced to the office on 19 August of the same year. From his office he resigned on 24 May 2004.
