Leutersdorf, Thuringia

Leutersdorf is a municipality in the district Schmalkalden- Meiningen in Thuringia. The municipality belongs to the administrative community Dolmar salt bridge, which has its administrative headquarters in Schwarza.

Leutersdorf lies in the Werra reason.

History

For the first time the municipality in 1057 was mentioned. The place was first an exclave of the possession of the Bishopric of Würzburg in the county of Henneberg. 1435 pledged the Bishop of Würzburg and the places Leutersdorf Vachdorf to the Counts of Henneberg - Schleusingen. The pledge was not until 1495 again redeemed. 1542 came Leutersdorf as part of Wurzburg exclave Meiningen in exchange to the Counts of Henneberg - Schleusingen. After the extinction of the place came with the Office Meiningen in 1583 to the House of Wettin.

Leutersdorf has a fortified church. It stands on a small mountain spur at high altitude western edge of the village. A small gate tower and clerestory and the remains of the wall are still present.

Leutersdorf 1628-1685 was affected by witch hunts: Seven people were charged in the witch trials, at least three were executed by three processes the output is unknown. 1628 was the first victim Osanna, Barthel Herleins woman executed.

From 1680 to 1918, the village belonged to the Duchy of Saxe-Meiningen, and was until 1825 in the Official Meiningen and then to 1829 in the Official Maßfeld.
