Li Ning

Li Ning (Chinese李宁/李宁, Pinyin lǐ Ning; born September 8, 1963 in Liuzhou, Guangxi ) is a former Chinese gymnast and current entrepreneurs.

Life

Li Ning was born in a Zhuang family, he is the son of a Chinese music teacher and should first follow his father's profession. During a vocal cord injury Li Ning first came into contact with the gymnastics. At the age of eight years, the gymnastics team of the autonomous region of Guangxi took him into their team.

He received in 1982 after its success at the sixth World Cup Gymnastic Competition nicknamed "Prince of Gymnastics ". In this tournament in Zagreb, he had won in six disciplines gold. He won the individual all-around, won on the ground, on the high bar, on Pommel Horse, on the rings and jump. At the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles, he won six medals, three gold, two silver and one bronze.

At the Olympic Summer Games in Seoul in 1988 he could no longer meet the high expectations and did not win any medal. He ended his sports career and was deported to a lemonade factory.

In 1990 he founded the Li Ning Company Limited, a company named after him, which manufactures sporting goods. He used his international contacts and initially produced for the market leaders Adidas and Nike. Later, let Li Ning Co. Ltd.. partly also produce other manufacturers.

2000 Li Ning was inducted into the International Gymnastics Hall of Fame. Li was at the opening of the 2008 Summer Olympic Games on August 8, 2008 in Beijing, the final runner of the Olympic torch relay and lit on a steel support structure suspended the Olympic cauldron at the inner edge of the roof of the National Stadium. Previously, Li wanted to endow each referee and IOC officials with his clothing, but he could against the longtime IOC outfitter Adidas prevail not. Instead, all employees of Chinese state television CCTV as well as the Spanish and Swedish national team wore his clothes.

Li studied law at the School of Law of Peking University (BA) and a second degree at the Guanghua School of Management of Peking University, he graduated with an MBA.
