Lichtenborn is a municipality in the district of Bitburg -Prüm, in Rhineland -Palatinate. She is a member of the collective municipality.

Geography
Light Born is located in the countryside Islek, west of the Eifel, a few kilometers east of the border with Luxembourg. North of the village rises to 569 m above sea level. NN the light Höhe with a panoramic view over large parts of the landscape.
The municipality is divided into the districts Lichtenborn, Kopscheid and Stalbach. The hamlet Lichtenborn includes the residential places Eppelbruch, Eulenbruch and Faulenpuhl; to the hamlet Stalbach the living space belongs Fuchswiese.
With 72 %, almost three-quarters of its territory is used for agriculture, 22 % are forest existed (as of 2011 ).

Neighboring municipalities are Üttfeld the northwest, Euscheid in the north, and Lünebach Kinzenburg in the northeast, Manderscheid in the south and Arzfeld in the southwest.
History
The current capital Lichtenborn was first documented in 1330 as "light- wide ," which translates roughly as " deforested area " is. By the end of the 18th century Lichtenborn and Stalbach belonged to the condominium Pronsfeld, Kopscheid to rule New Castle in the Duchy of Luxembourg. As the administrative seat of the mayor's Lichtenborn it was under Prussian administration, and later the place came to office Waxweiler.
On January 1, 1973, the formerly independent communities Kopscheid (then 95 inhabitants) and were Stalbach (87 ) incorporated to Lichtenborn.

The local council in Lichtenborn consists of eight council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009, by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

The drawbar is the fork in the road in the village center of Lichtenborn where the coming out of the Prümtal federal highway 410 to the left swung in the direction of Luxembourg and leads away from the right towards the Belgium national road 9.
The three former municipalities Lichtenborn, Kopscheid and Stalbach are symbolized by the three loops that are designed in accordance with ornaments on light Borner shaft crosses from the 18th century.
At the crest of the family of Brandenburg and to the oldest coat of arms of the Counts of Vianden the colors red and silver are ajar. The Luxembourg Lords of Brandenburg was the patronage of the light Borner church and descended from the Counts of Vianden. The latter could probably build the first church in Lichtenborn.
Attractions
Today's light Borner church was built in 1895 and has a lofty tower.
To a stone cross ( " Black Cross " ) in a spruce forest on light Borner area is shrouded in various stories and legends.

Economy and infrastructure
Lichtenborn is an agricultural municipality today. Since 1971, when still 72 farms were counted, the agricultural area of 914 ha to 942 ha ( 2010) has increased, which were managed by 16 companies.
At the southern edge of the village the main road 410, the main road leading from the 9 in Lichtenborn towards Belgium runs.
Public institutions
Lichtenborn is the site of a volunteer fire department with 14 members.
