Lifeblood (album)

Occupation

Lifeblood is an album by the Welsh band Manic Street Preachers. It was released on 1 November 2004. The album marked a distinct change of style in the music of the group; the Manics came from the harsh political rock of its predecessor for a personal pop. The political texts of Know Your Enemy gave way to emotional lyrics. In Life Blood was also referred for the first time since 1995 on the lost rhythm guitarist Richey James Edwards.

Content

Was Lifeblood - similar to the 1998's This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours - oriented more on the soul and on the pop music than the other plates of the band, which were directed primarily at the punk of The Clash. For the first time also frequently synthesizers and keyboards were used. The successful single, The Love of Richard Nixon, which number two in the UK Top 40 reached in the UK, according to Nicky Wire did not include a guitar, but only synths and drums. The single distanced himself but from the others songs from the album that it had a political text, but which - unusually for the band - showed sympathy for a politician of the political right, the Republican U.S. President Richard Nixon. The other songs on the CD were less political because Nicky Wire did not want to join a debate, " join ", " in Green Day, Chris Martin and Fran Healy " ( singer of the band Travis ) .. While the album received positively by most critics was ( Mojo ) called Life Blood " An album that will nail his subtle but insistent melodies with dignity and maturity" ), there was also criticism: Q called the album " Miserable and anemic ." Even with the fans of the group, the opinions excreted; with the exception of Know Your Enemy has no album the band a weaker average rate on Your Music. Likewise, the commercial success was: Lifeblood just landed at number 13 on the British charts - the weakest position since the debut Generation Terrorists - and fell after 2 weeks from the hit parade. The two singles The Love of Richard Nixon and Empty Souls reached the second place in the British singles chart, respectively.
