Liga Nacional de Fútbol de Guatemala

The Liga Nacional de Guatemala is the highest league in the Guatemalan football. It is operated by the Federación Nacional de Fútbol de Guatemala, the football association in the country.

History

1919, the Guatemalan football champions was played in the league for the first time Capitalina. Parallel was 1919-1923 Campeonato Nacional the place in the regional selections played against each other. 1931 was formed with the Campeonato de la República a competition event.

Mode

In the Liga Nacional de Guatemala twelve teams are represented. They play in the first round each in a home and away game against each other. After each team has completed 22 games, the best six teams qualify for the finals. The first two teams are automatically qualified for the semifinals, place three to six play their enemies. The winners of the respective championships qualify for the Copa Inter Clubes Copa Centroamericana.
