Lions (Super Rugby)
The Lions ( engl. the lions formerly Golden Cats and Cats called ) are a rugby union team from the South African city of Johannesburg. She plays in the international Super 14 League. The home games are played at Ellis Park Stadium. The team changed its name to the 2007 season under the name Cats.

History
As the Super 12 tournament began in 1996, the four best teams from the South African Currie Cup qualified for the first edition. Among them were the Golden Lions. In the first season they reached the 10th place. In 1997, the team qualified for the second season under the name Gauteng Lions. At the end he was two points to a place in the semifinals.
In 1998, the South African Association of the franchise system and certain four teams for the Super 12 Among them were the Cats, as the Lions at that time still called. In the first two seasons under the new name, they failed to qualify for the round of last four. In 2000, however, the Cats made it to the semifinals, failed there to the Brumbies. In the following season they reached the semi-finals again, this time they were subject to the Sharks.
