Lisa Misipeka

Lisa Misipeka (born 3 January 1975) is a former Samoan athlete who specializes in the hammer throw. In addition, she was also active in the shot put and discus throw. It holds in all three disciplines, the national records of American Samoa, the record in the discus throw it shares with Talafulu Misa.

As a putter, she participated in the World Athletics Championships in Gothenburg in 1995 and at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta. With lengths of 13.98 m and 13.74 m, however, she left after each qualifying.

Then she focused on the hammer throw. At the World Athletics Championships in 1999 in Seville they celebrated the biggest success of her career when she won the bronze medal with a distance of 66.06 m. It was the first World Cup medal ever that brought an athlete for American Samoa. In two other appearances at the World Championships (2001 and 2003), she failed to reach the final round as well as at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney.

At the 2004 Olympics in Athens, she was at the opening ceremony flag bearer for her country. In the hammer throw, however, failed her to achieve a valid length.

Lisa Misipeka had a competition weight of 84 kg at a height of 1.70 m. She studied from 1994 to 1998 at the University of South Carolina and began an operation after the end of their active career as a track coach.
