List of cities and towns in Saudi Arabia

The list of cities in Saudi Arabia provides an overview of the development of the population of the larger cities of the Near Eastern country of Saudi Arabia.

The largest city in Saudi Arabia is Riyadh with 4,087,152 inhabitants ( 2004 census ). This means that around 20 percent of people in the country live in the capital. Mecca and Medina are completely closed to non-Muslims.

The following table lists the cities with more than 50,000 inhabitants, whose name in German transcription and in Arabic as well as the results of the censuses ( VZ ) of 9 September 1974 September 27, 1992 and 15 September 2004. Listed is also the province, to which the city belongs. The population figures refer to the actual city without suburban belt.
