The list of cities in Egypt provides an overview of the development of the population of the larger cities of the North African country of Egypt.

Cities by population

The following table lists the cities with more than 100,000 inhabitants, whose name in German transcription and in Arabic, the results of the censuses ( VZ ) of 17 November 1986 19 November 1996 and 11 November 2006 and a calculation for the first January 2008. Listed is also the government, to which the city belongs. The population figures are based on the city or town in its political boundaries, without politically independent suburbs.
