This is a list of cities in Mexico.

By far the largest agglomeration in Mexico is Mexico City with a population of 22,095,047 (as of 1 January 2005). Thus, about 20 percent of the country's people live in the capital region. The Federal District (Distrito Federal) has 8,720,916 inhabitants. Of them are living in the urban area ( área urbana ) 8,463,906 people and in rural area ( área rural) 257 010 ( 2005 census ).

In the following table are the cities of over 200,000 inhabitants, the results of the Census ( Census ) of 12 March 1990, November 5, 1995, February 14, 2000 and October 17, 2005 and the parent management unit ( State), to which the city heard listed. Mexico City forms a separate federal district, and does not belong to the state. The population figures refer to the respective urban settlement in the narrower sense - the geographical area of ​​the city - not the city or municipality in the political sense.
