Tepic

Tepic is the capital of the state of Nayarit in Mexico. The 274 100 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2004) scoring and was founded in 1531 city lies on volcanic area.

It is a Catholic bishopric, and has museums, universities and theaters. The products produced in the surrounding areas, such as sugar cane, cotton and tobacco are usually processed in Tepic (eg linen, cigars ).

Tepic has a small airfield, which is used mainly by general aviation, charter, and some commercial flights.

Landmarks include the cathedral and the church of Santa Cruz.

History

In the spring of 1540 broke out in Tepic from the Mixton war and expanded as a rebellion against the Spanish colonial power in other regions of Mexico from.
