The Megale bright nike enkyklopaideaia appeared 1927-1934, only a few years after establishment of the Republic (1924 ), in Athens with a circumference of 24 volumes. This is the first major encyclopedia of modern times in the Greek language.
Neoteron Enkyklopaedikon lexicon Heliou appeared between 1945 and 1960 in 18 volumes in Athens. The work is written in a simplified Katharevoussa, but partially antikisierend.

The Konversacijas vardnica appeared 1892-1898 in Riga with 27 deliveries [? ]; the work is considered the first Latvian Encyclopedia, but remained unfinished (up keyword " Kristjans ").

Lithuanian ( Lietuvių )

The Lietuviska enciklopedija appeared 1931-1944 in Kaunas with a circumference of nine volumes; it involves the first Lithuanian Encyclopedia.
In the period of the Soviet Union, the Lithuanian Soviet Encyclopedia ( Lietuviškoji tarybinė enciklopedija, LTE) was given out.
Today, the Institute for Science and encyclopedias sets ( MELI publisher) continues this work and plans the Lithuanian Encyclopedia ( Visuotinė lietuvių enciklopedija, VLE ) surrendered 20 volumes by 2009.
