List of national parks of Namibia
In Namibia, numerous state parks and national public and private protected areas were established to protect the unspoiled nature of the land and maintain it. With this measure, one comes at the same time also a constitutional mandate after, because of the nature conservation in Namibia enjoys constitutional status. The management and organization of the state nature protection takes on the Ministry of Environment and Tourism. 2013 were 138,163.7 km ² under direct state protection. This is almost 17 per cent of the land area of Namibia. In addition, nearly 30 percent of the country that are (so-called conservancies ) subdivided or state protection.
Protection status
Namibia different law only two types of protected areas, the wildlife park (English " Game Park " ) and the nature reserve ( " Nature Reserve "), which have equal protection. There is no categorization according to IUCN. In order to nevertheless highlight the special status of individual protected areas, wear this roll-call additional National Park ( " National Park "). There is since 2009 the establishment of a marine protected area ( " Islands ' Marine Protected Area " ), since 2012 the landscape protection areas ( "Protected Landscape Conservation Areas ").

Landscape protection areas
Landscape protection areas have been introduced to expand the nature reserves and wildlife parks in 2011. Expand the size of this nationwide to 15,550 km ² and are distributed nationwide.
Planned conservation areas
The following protected areas are planned, but not yet officially proclaimed.
- Kunene People's Park 11.5 thousand km ²
Concession areas
In so-called concession ( concession areas ) is state land that is passed to the administration over a fixed period to private concessionaires. The end of 2009 there were seven such concession areas.
Private Nature Reserves
The following protected areas are under private management, but were recognized by the state, and also example supported by the Black Rhino Custodian Project.
- Erindi Wildlife Reserve 710 km ²
- Fisher 's Pan private reserve 70 km ²
- Gondwana Collection Nature Reserves 1970 km ²
- Huab Private Nature Reserve 80 km ²
- Intu Africa Kalahari Reserve 10 km ²
- Kuzikus Game Reserve 105 km ²
- Namib Rand Nature Reserve 1720 km ²
- Okonjati Wildlife Sanctuary 300 km ²
- Onguma Private Reserve 200 km ²
- Nature Park Tirasberge 125km ²
Municipal Reserves
There are many so-called communal conservancies in Namibia (municipal areas or farm associations with protective character ). End of 2009, this 59 regions with an area of about 120,000 km ².
