Lithium hexafluorophosphate is an inorganic compound with the formula LiPF6. Due to its solubility in nonpolar solvents heights, the white, crystalline powder is mainly used as the electrolyte in commercially available batteries. In particular, in solution with propylene carbonate and ethylene glycol.
LiPF 6 is also used as a catalyst in the reaction of tertiary alcohols in tetrahydropyrans.
