Little Sisters of the Poor

The Congregation of the Little Sisters of the Poor ( fr.: Petites sœurs of pauvres ) is a Roman Catholic religious order.

The Women's Order was founded in Saint- Servan in Saint- Malo in 1839 by the Holy Jeanne Jugan ( 1792-1879 ). The congregation was established in 1852 and episcopal on March 1, 1879 by Pope Leo XIII. recognized.

About 3,000 nurses are involved in social and charitable sector in 32 countries on five continents (as of 2005). In 208 houses of the Congregation elderly, destitute people are cared for. The houses are all people, regardless of religious affiliation and culture, open.

The charitable association of Sister Jeanne Jugan, which was founded on 5 September 1998, has over 1900 members worldwide.
