The locomotive (Russian Локомотив / Lokomotiw ) is a pure football stadium in the east of the Russian capital Moscow. Since its renovation between 2001 and 2002, it is one of the most modern arenas in Russia.

History

The stadium was completed in 1923 and has since the conversion from 2001 to 2002 has a capacity of 30,075 seats (all seats). The stadium is covered and has VIP booths. It has four -star UEFA.

New it was inaugurated on 5 July 2002 with the league match against FK Lokomotiv Moscow Uralan (2-0). In addition to the home games of Lokomotiv Moscow regularly hosts international matches of the Russian national football team, as well as occasional European Cup games of various Moscow clubs. The stadium is located in the northeast of the city, Bolshaya Tscherkischowskaja Street 125th Nearby is since 1990 the Metro station Tscherkisowskaja the Sokolnicheskaya line.
