Loriga [ lu'ɾigɐ ] is a small town ( Vila ) and a community ( freguesia ) in the district of the district Seia Guarda in Portugal. It has 1053 inhabitants (as at 30 June 2011) on an area of 36.3 km ². To town Loriga includes two villages, Loriga and Fontão. The municipality is located in a valley of the mountain Serra da Estrela region, about 20 kilometers from the city Seia, 80 kilometers from Guarda and 300 kilometers northeast of Lisbon.

Due to the topographical location - the town is surrounded by high mountains, the highest village of Portugal - Loriga is considered the " Portuguese Switzerland ". The region was settled years ago in 2600 by the Lusitanians and has long been a part of the Roman Empire in the province of Lusitania.

In the city developed in the 18th century textile industry, but today has hardly any significance. Due to the single ski slopes of Portugal and the special situation of winter tourism has become an important economic factor in the community. Support the resort Vodafone Ski Resort, which was created in Loriga, the mobile phone company Vodafone Group. Sponsored by the tourism settled in the city also several commercial establishments and restaurants.
