Los Cardones National Park

The National Park Los Cardone (Spanish parque nacional Los Cardone ) is a protected area in northwestern Argentina. It was opened in 1996 and covers an area of ​​65520 hectares at altitudes 2700-5000 m. The park is located about 100 km southeast of Salta, capital of the homonymous province. He was named after the so-called Cardon ( Echinopsis atacamensis ), a cactus that grows in altitudes up to 3400 meters and during their lifetime of 250-300 years is up to 12 m tall.
