Lothar Höhne

Lothar Höhne is a former German racing cyclist, who was active in the 1950s and 1960s in the GDR.

Sports career

Höhne achieved his success without exception as a street driver. He first started out for the SC rotation Leipzig, after its dissolution in 1963 for the Army Sports Club forward Leipzig. He was twice East German champion in the 100 - km - driving team in 1959 with the SC rotation and in 1965 with the ASK forward. In 1959 he also won the Tour of Slovakia before the Czechoslovak local heroes January Malten. The East German Cycling Federation nominated Höhne 1960 for the road World Championships, which were held on DDR Sachsenring race track. Of the six participating DDR drivers he reached the fifth- best ranking with rank 34. 1961 belonged to the GDR Höhne squad for the International Peace Race Warsaw - East Berlin - Prague. He won the first stage around Warsaw, reached with the GDR team second place in the team standings and ended up in the overall standings at the 28th rank. In the years 1962 and 1963 Höhne won the one-day race around Berlin.
