Louis Freeh

Louis Joseph Freeh ( born January 6, 1950 in Jersey City, New Jersey) is an American government official. He was the tenth Director of the FBI between September 1, 1993 ( under President Bill Clinton) and June 25, 2001 ( President George W. Bush).

After graduating from Rutgers University in 1971, Louis Freeh graduated from Rutgers School of Law School of the Juris Doctor 1974. At the Law School of New York University in 1984 followed by the Master of Laws. In the United States Army Reserve, he rose to the First Lieutenant.

From 1975 to 1981 Freeh already worked as a special agent for the FBI in New York and Washington. He then became Deputy Attorney for the Southern District of New York. He was instrumental in the case of the Pizza Connection. He also investigated the fatal letter bomb attack on Federal Judge Robert Smith Vance.

In July 1991, Freeh was appointed by U.S. President George Bush to the judge at the Federal District Court for the Southern District of New York. Two years later, the appeal succeeded to the FBI director by Bill Clinton. The Senate gave its approval on 20 July 1993, so that Freeh was sworn in on 1 September of the same year.
