Life

The Duke of Bourbon, as Ludwig was called, was the second son of Henry III. Condé and the Countess Palatine Anna Henriette von Pfalz- simmering and was born at the Hôtel de Condé in Paris. He is described as a grown short, with a large head and sallow, as well as a notoriously malevolent and nuisance causing.

He took over in 1685 from his father the office of Grand Master of France and was in the following year, Knights of the Holy Spirit. In 1688 he followed the Dauphin to the siege of Philipsburg and the king, Louis XIV, to the siege of Mons, 1691, and Namur, 1692nd He also fought in the battles of Battle of Steenkerke and Battle of Neerwinden. 1694 he served as a Lieutenant General in Flanders.

After the death of his father in 1709 he inherited his titles and offices. Since, however, was passed after his death the title of First Prince of the Blood to the Duke of Orléans, he called himself no longer - as it had previously granted to the Prince of Condé - Monsieur le Prince, but kept the Salutation Monsieur le Duc for the Duke of bourbon. Even the title of Prince de Condé, he therefore did not lead.

He died the following year very suddenly - as it is of a stroke.
