Lövstad Castle

Castle Löfstad located about nine kilometers southwest of the Swedish town of Norrköping in Östergötland near the European route 4 towards Linköping.

Löfstad is known since the 15th century, but the present castle was built in 1637 by order of Field Marshal Axel Lillie. The castle consists of a three-story central portion and two elongated two-storey wings, which are provided with towers. Between 1670 and 1680 the castle has been modernized, but the final look was it only after a serious fire in the middle of the 18th century. The last owner Emilie Piper inherited the castle to the Swedish House of Nobility. Since her death in 1926 the castle and especially the device is unchanged and can be visited in guided tours. The castle was also included in the list of Swedish cultural monuments.
