Lucien Daloz

Lucien Charles Gilbert Daloz (born 9 October 1930 in Syam, Jura, France; † 31 July, 2012 Jouhe, Jura ) was Roman Catholic Archbishop of Besançon.

Life

Lucien Daloz studied at the Seminary of Our Lady in Vaux- sur- Polignyan and at the Pontifical Gregorian University Catholic theology and philosophy and received on 29 June 1955, the ordination. Subsequently, he was from 1955 to 1957 chaplain in the parish of Saint Louis of the French, near Piazza Navona in Rome and graduated at the Gregorian postgraduate studies, in which he 1957, the licentiate in scholastic philosophy acquired and in 1959 with a dissertation on St. John Chrysostom Dr. theol. doctorate. From 1957 to 1958 Vicar was in Morez, an industrial village in the French Jura. In 1958 he became a lecturer at the Seminary Montciel in Lons -le- Saunier and also from 1961 to 1969 the rain. In 1970 he was Vicar General of the Diocese of Saint -Claude.

Pope Paul VI. appointed him on August 5, 1975 Bishop of Langres. The Bishop Emeritus of Saint- Claude, Claude -Marie -Constant Flusin, donated to him on October 19, 1975 in the Cathedral of Langres episcopal ordination; Co-consecrators were Alfred Joseph Atton, emeritus bishop of Langres, and Gilbert -Antoine Duchêne, Bishop of Saint -Claude. His motto Il n'y a pas de plus grand amour que de donner sa vie pour ses amis ( "There is no greater love than to lay down his life for his friends" ) comes from the Gospel of John (Jn 15,13 EU). Pope John Paul II appointed him on 12 December 1980 Archbishop of Besançon and took on 13 August 2003 be on the grounds of age pre- mounted resignation.

From 2000 to 2003 he was President of the Commission for Justice and Peace of the French Bishops' Conference and a member of the Commission for religious instruction, and for the universal mission of the Church. He was also the author of several books.

He died on pilgrimage town of Our Lady of Mont -Roland in Jouhe, where he had lived since his retirement and was still active in the ministry. The Exsequien be celebrated on August 3, 2012 in the Cathedral of Besancon.
