Ludwig Emil Grimm

Ludwig Emil Grimm ( born March 14, 1790 in Hanau, † April 4, 1863 in Kassel) was a painter ( professor ), an etcher and engraver. He was the brother of Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm.

Life

Work

Particularly well known are mainly the portraits of his brothers Wilhelm Grimm and Jacob Grimm, as well as the drawing of the "fairy woman " Dorothea cattle man from the year 1814. 1819 was an etching from this drawing. This unusual presentation of a fairy tale ornament band gave Wilhelm Grimm in the years 1815, realized this, however, until 1819 when the second edition of the "Children 's and Household Tales ". Ludwig Emil Grimm Prize

Since 2012, awards the town of Hanau, the Ludwig Emil Grimm Prize. The award is endowed with 10,000 euros, of which more 7000 Euro for the grand prize.
