Ludwig Simon

Ludwig ( Gerhard Gustav ) Simon (also known as Simon of Trier) ( born February 20, 1819 in Saarlouis, † February 2nd 1872 in Montreux, Switzerland ) was a German politician.

Life

Simon studied from 1836 to 1839 legal and Kameralwissenschaften at the Rheinische Friedrich- Wilhelms-Universität Bonn. He was a member of the fraternity Ruländer Bonn (1837 ) and a founding member of the Corps Palatia Bonn (1838 ). In 1839 he resigned as district court clerk in the Prussian civil service. From 1840 he was a lawyer in Trier. In 1845 he was lieutenant of the Prussian Landwehr.

From 1848 he joined more political in appearance, including as author of the Trier protest address, delegate to the fifties Committee and a member of the Trier vigilantes.

From 18 May 1848 to the end of the Rump Parliament on 18 June 1849, he took Trier in the Frankfurt National Assembly. From the 8th June, he was a member of the Committee of Fifteen appointed by the Rump Parliament to enforce the Constitution and held at the Baden uprising the function of the Reich Commissioner Reich reign in the Black Forest.

In September 1848 he had participated in the Frankfurt uprising; but the National Assembly rejected the repeal in question of his immunity.

After the defeat of the Baden Revolution he fled in July 1849 in Switzerland. Because of its affiliation with the rump parliament, he was sentenced in absentia for high treason and desertion due to death. 1861 the Prussian government refused his pardon from having regard to the desertion as an officer.

On March 16, 1870, he married in Menton thirty years younger than Marie Schmidlin. The couple settled in Montreux, where the daughter Friederike was born on July 23, 1871.
