Luigi Oreglia di Santo Stefano

Luigi Cardinal Oreglia di Santo Stefano ( born July 9, 1828 in Bene Vagienna, Province of Cuneo, Italy; † 7 December 1913 in Rome ) was a Cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church.

Life

Luigi Oreglia di Santo Stefano was ordained a priest in 1851 and in 1866 was appointed Titular Archbishop of Tamiathis. He received his episcopal consecration on May 13, 1866 Cardinal Altieri Lodovico.

Luigi Oreglia di Santo Stefano was mostly active in the Curia, and was Apostolic Nuncio to Belgium from 1866 to 1868 and from Portugal in 1868.

Pope Pius IX. took him in 1873 with the titular church of Santa Anastasia as cardinal priest in the College of Cardinals to. On 24 March 1884 he became Cardinal Bishop of Palestrina. It was founded in 1889, Cardinal Bishop of Porto e Santa Rufina and Subdean the College of Cardinals, and finally in 1896 Cardinal Dean and Cardinal Bishop of Ostia e Velletri.
