Luis de la Puente

The Servant of God Luis de la Puente ( born November 11, 1554 Valladolid; † February 16, 1624 same place ) was a Spanish Jesuit and writer ascetic writings.

Life

After joining the Society of Jesus, he studied under the famous theologian Francisco Suárez. Soon after his ordination in 1580 he was employed as master of novices, and was popular as such, had to retire for health reasons but this activity. He devoted himself to the work as a writer.

From 1599 he devoted himself to the plague victims in Villa Garcia. Revered by many because of his humble way of life, he died in the odor of sanctity. Soon after his death, his beatification process was initiated.

Works

Of his numerous writings Meditaciones de los Mysterio de Nuestra Sancta Fe ( 1605 German: Reflections on the principal mysteries of faith ), the most famous. It has been translated into more than ten languages ​​and into the 20th century reissued.
