Luka Bonačić ( [ ka ː lû bɔ̌natʃitɕ ]; born March 2, 1955 in Split, Yugoslavia, now Croatia ) is a former Yugoslav football player and current coach. He had played for, among others, VfL Bochum in the Bundesliga.

Career

Playing career

Youth

Bonačić arrived in Split to the world on March 2, 1955. He began his football career in the football academy of Split. He joined the youth of Hajduk Split in 1969 with 14 years.

Professional career

Already in 1971, signed a contract with Luka Bonačić Hajduk Split. In four years, he completed 45 games and scored eight goals. In 1974 he moved to Switzerland to Grasshopper Club Zurich 13 games where he did in the season 1974/75, scoring 5 goals and with the club finished third at the end. In 1976 he moved to NK Maribor, where he played for two years. In 1979 he moved to VfL Bochum, but where he could never prevail, and in 1980 moved to the Spanish league for CD Málaga. In 1981 he moved to Australia, where he finished his career in 1986 at the Melbourne Knights.

Coaching career

He spent most of his coaching career in Croatia, the former Yugoslavia, and Iran.

After end of his career he took over in 1988 the Central United FC before Bonačić 1991 returned to Yugoslavia and various clubs coached, including the HNK Hajduk Split 1997-1998. In 2003 he went to Iran, where he coached Foolad Ahvaz Esteghlal Ahvaz. In 2005 he took over the Albanian first division KS Dinamo Tirana and in 2006 returned to Croatia Luka Bonačić back and trained as early as the 1997/98 season Hajduk Split. But in the same year he returned to Iran and became coach of Sepahan Isfahan. Two years later he went to Dubai for Al -Nasr SC. After he returned briefly to Foolad Ahvaz, Bonačić coached by 2010 Mes Kerman. Most recently, he was the coach of Sepahan Isfahan.
