Luxembourg Football Federation

The Fédération Luxembourgeoise de Football ( FLF ) ( Luxembourgish: FEDERATIOUN vun Lëtzebuerger Foussball; German: " covenant of Luxembourg football " ) is the national football association of Luxembourg. In Luxembourg Association are 30.378 active ( players and referees ) in 108 clubs organized (as of August 9, 2010 ). The FLF aligns the operation of the Luxembourg League clubs, to the National Division and the Luxembourg cup competition, the Coupe de Luxembourg and organizes the various Luxembourg national football teams. Although soccer is the national sport in Luxembourg, Luxembourg both the clubs and the two teams are internationally highly unsuccessful.

History

End of 1906, the first football club in Luxembourg, CS Fola Esch Football was founded in Lawn Tennis Club, already almost two years later, there were 13 clubs who wanted to give an umbrella organization. This was initiated by representatives of 13 clubs to life in November 1908. A half years later, in the spring of 1910, the Association was taken by FIFA and organized its first football championship Luxembourg. In the autumn of 1911 was followed by the first international match of Mr. selection against France, which was, however, lost in the Luxembourg capital with 1:4. 1913 could be discharged from organizational problems no championship, but this was continued in spite of German occupation during World War II. 1922 Coupe de Luxembourg was first held. While the renewed German occupation during the Second World War, the Luxembourg Association in 1941 was forcibly dissolved and forcibly assigned to the member clubs Fußballgau the Mosel.

As early as 1945, the association was restored and was still in the year of the end of World War II, the first championship of. 1954 was one of the FLF to the 29 founding members of UEFA.

Although Luxembourg took part in all the world as Euro Championships Men except at the respective first tournaments have never been able to qualify for the finals. Since then, however international success of the association are extremely rare.

Today, however, the youth players of the Luxembourg squad win many small games / tournaments against the Rhineland or other associations of neighboring countries: France, Belgium and Germany. At the most wins either the U15 or the U17 team are involved. The youth, however, does not play many international matches against other countries.
