Magnus – Robot Fighter

Magnus is a comic book superhero from the house of Gold Key, Florida. The signatories were Russ Manning, Dan Reflect, Paul Norris and Frank Bolle.

In the year 4000 AD, the human race is almost completely dependent of robots. It comes so far that the robot people make lethargy advantage to subjugate them. Officially, the robots are taking to give people, so among other things, the police robot called polrobs.

Gold Key

Russ Manning was the creator of the title character Magnus. He was the author and illustrator of the first 21 books. Valiant

Under the slightly altered title " Magnus Robot Fighter ", the series was revived in the early 1990s with newly produced adventures as the Valiant -Verlag (see also: Valiant Comics ), USA, the rights to Doctor Solar, Magnus Robot Fighter and Turok Son Of Stone earned. Acclaim

1994 Valiant Comics was sold as part of the Voyager Communications Inc. to the game maker Acclaim. An economic downturn in 1996 was followed by the restructuring of the publishing house and its program to Acclaim Comics.

Under " Acclaim Comics Vailiant Heroes" ( VH2 ) published from 1996 to 2002 in part heavily modified form ( "same as it never was " ) a few new tracks, including " Magnus Robot Fighter " from 1997 to 1998 with a total of 18 issues. Magnus was also represented in the editions " Unity 2000", 1-3. Acclaim was insolvent in 2004, auctioned off its own comic book title in the following year - Magnus, Turok and Solar fell back to Random House, the rights holders of Western Publishing.

Dark Horse

Reprints of Gold - Key Stories of 2004 there were at Dark Horse Comics in the form of three hardcover books: Magnus Robot Fighter Archives.

Since August 2010, a new comic book series published by Dark Horse with new stories, written by Jim Shooter, the first issue also contains the first Magnus story by Gold Key. Publications in Germany

The Gold Key - series was published from November 1966 to December 1970 as " Magnus Robot Fighter " in the picture magazine publisher ( BSV ) with the issue numbers 1-25.

From 1978 to 1982 ( numbers 1-14 ) published sequences in the paperback series " Action Heroes" (title of No. 1: " Superheroes " ) from the Condor -Verlag together with other heroes from the BSV, such as Doctor solar, Space Family Robinson (see also: Lost in Space ), the Mighty Samson (see Samson Mighty ) Turok - son of stones and other titles.
