Maicon Thiago Pereira de Souza

Maicón ( civil Maicón Thiago Pereira de Souza, born 14 September 1985 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) is a Brazilian footballer who is currently at FC São Paulo under contract.

Career

The 184 cm and 87 kg attacking midfielder started his professional career in 2003 at EC Madureira, a Brazilian third division of Rio de Janeiro. From 2004 to 2005 Maicon was active at Fluminense Rio de Janeiro. In January 2006 he returned to Madureira EC and was subsequently loaned to Bangu AC and from October to December 2006 at Botafogo FR, where he came to five appearances in September 2006. In January 2007, he returned to his hometown club Madureira EC.

At the beginning of the 2007/ 08 changed Maicón for about 600,000 euros to the German Bundesliga MSV Duisburg, where he received a four-year contract. On 1 September 2007, when he first stood in the Bundesliga in the starting Maicón shot against Arminia Bielefeld his first Bundesliga goal for MSV Duisburg; however, it remained in 20 inserts his only hit. At the end of the season the zebras got back from the 2nd Bundesliga. Although he too pleased with wit and ideas knew in his missions for the MSV mostly, he could permanently play neither under former coach Rudi Bommer under his successor, Peter Neururer, the preferred an applied safety Double Six variant into the starting lineup and therefore came only eight other inserts in the 2008/09 season, in which he scored two goals.

Therefore, he was loaned out in September 2009 for one year to the Brazilian second division club Figueirense FC. There he was part of the starting eleven and was able to convince, so he was obliged in the summer of 2010. At the end of the year he was able to rise with the club in the Série A.

In January 2012 Maicón moved to league rivals and top club FC São Paulo, where he was also an important part of the team.
