Malé Dvorníky

Malé Dvorníky (Hungarian Kisudvarnok ) is a municipality in south-western Slovakia with 1048 inhabitants ( 31 December 2011). It belongs to Okres Dunajská Streda, a part of the Trnavský kraj.

Geography

The municipality is located in the Slovak Danube lowland on the river island Žitný ostrov. The soil is fertile and very suitable for agriculture, closer to the Little Danube, there are some marshes. The center is located at an altitude of 115 m nm and is three kilometers away from Dunajská Streda.

Neighboring towns are Malé Blahovo ( for Dunajská Streda belonging ), Dunajský Klátov and Veľké Dvorníky

History

Archaeological finds on the hill Kápolnadomb prove a settlement of the area from the time of the Celts and Avars.

The town was first mentioned in writing in 1252 and was inhabited by servants of the Bratislava Castle. 1356 appears the name Oduor.

Until 1919 belonged to the county located in the Bratislava city of the Kingdom of Hungary and was then Czechoslovakia or Slovakia today. On the basis of the First Vienna Award, it was 1938-45 again in Hungary.

1960-1990 Malé Dvorníky was merged with the neighboring Veľké Dvorníky in the community Dvorníky na Ostrove.

2013 won the community's total Slovak round of the competition " Village of the Year " after she received in 2009 an award in the category " village as a partner ."

Population

According to the 2011 census lived in Malé Dvorníky 1,038 inhabitants, of whom 920 Magyars, 113 Slovaks and Czechs two. Three residents did not know. 873 residents pleaded with the Roman Catholic Church, 69 inhabitants to the Reformed Church, seven inhabitants to the Evangelical Church AC, three inhabitants of the Greek Catholic Church and one population to the Orthodox Church, the Methodist Church and Judaism. 68 residents were non-denominational and 15 inhabitants, the denomination is not determined
