Malpartida de Cáceres

Malpartida de Cáceres is a municipality with 4395 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013) in Extremadura, Spain. The place is a good 10 kilometers west of Cáceres in the province of the same name.

The municipality owns the 319 -acre nature reserve Los Barruecos in which, as in other areas of the 32 -acre district, including the white stork (Ciconia ciconia, span: Cigüeña ) overwinters. For protection, the town was awarded by the European Foundation Heritage as the European stork village in 1997. In Los Barruecos there is also a large number of relics from the Neolithic period.

In the village are two museums of contemporary art: El Museo Vostell Malpartida was founded in 1976 by ​​the German artist Wolf Vostell. It is located 3 km from the city center and displays exhibits the movement Fluxus. The Museu Narbon, a gallery with works of the Spanish painter Juan José Narbon located in the center.
