Mambilima Falls

The Mambilimafälle the river Luapula located on 972 m above sea level just south of the Musondafälle and north of the town of Mansa in Luapula Province in Zambia in Kawambwa district on the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The actual waterfall is the Mambatutafall behind which the river meanders in a narrow bed to the north and it opens over a distance of five kilometers in a series of rapids, the so-called Mambilimafällen, in a densely populated alluvial landscape, which is dominated by mango trees and Kassavafeldern. The seemingly endless strip of white water rapids and the rapid flow make these cases so impressive. In the nearby town Mambilima mission there is a school and a hospital and an airstrip.
