Manuel Barrueco
Manuel Barrueco ( born December 16, 1952 in Santiago de Cuba ) is a Cuban guitarist.
Life
Barrueco began at the age of 8 years, playing guitar and attended the Conservatorio Esteban Salas in his native Cuba. In 1967 he emigrated with his parents to the United States. There he studied at the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, where he is also active as a teacher today. At the age of 22, he became the first guitarist to the Concert Artist Guild Award 1974. In the same year he appeared in New York's Carnegie Hall. As part of his international concert career, he starred in many major concert halls such as the Royal Albert Hall in London, the Musikverein in Vienna, Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and the Berlin Philharmonic.
