The couple from the Soviet Union did, however, errors in the Olympics and it was enough for the DDR - runner for the bronze medal, very slightly ahead of the Soviet defectors and the pair Tai Babilonia and Randy Gardner from the USA. The last appearance of the couple and the United Kagelmann followed at the World Championships in 1976. Here, the tide turned again and so she missed a medal in fourth just against Worobjowa and Vlasov.
