The Maokegebirge, which is also known as Pegunungan maoke or Central Range, is a mountain range that extends across the western half of New Guinea. It is located in the province of Papua in Indonesia. The western and highest part of the Maokegebirges forms the Sudirman Mountains with the Carstensz Pyramid ( 4884 m). The eastern part forms the Jayawijaya mountains with the Puncak TRIKORA ( 4730 m) and Puncak Mandala ( 4640 m).
Further east, in neighboring Papua New Guinea, the mountain passes into the Bismarck Mountains.
