Marble (software)

Marble is a free program for displaying geographical maps. It was developed for the KDE Software Compilation 4, based on Qt4 and is part of the KDE education project. It runs on all major operating systems such as Linux, Mac OS X and MS Windows.

Geothek is a follow-up project of Marble. Is Geothek from the publisher Ed. Hölzel developed and sold as software for school atlases.

Scope and functionality

The program can the Earth and other celestial bodies as the Moon, Mars or Venus show that can be rotated and scales to any size. The included scope is 5-10 megabytes of vector and bitmap data. More maps are automatically loaded from the Internet and can be added manually. In addition, it is also possible to create your own maps and integrate.
