Marc Riley

Marc Riley ( born 1961 in Manchester ) is a British musician and radio DJ Irish descent.

Life

Marc Riley played from 1978 to 1982 in the English band The Fall. First, he was the roadie of the band, but took over after a while the bass, which he borrowed from his friend Steve Hanley. Later he switched to guitar, while bassist Steve Hanley of The Fall was.

After The Fall, he formed his own band, Marc Riley with The Creepers, The Creepers later. The band existed from 1983 until 1988. During the late '80s, he wrote and drew the comic Harry The Head Doctor and Mooney for the Oink comic series! .

After working a while as a promoter for Factory Records and 4AD, he took over the early 90s first broadcasts on the BBC. He became known in collaboration with Mark Radcliffe as Mark and Lard, first with an evening broadcast on BBC Radio 1, later with a breakfast show. Together as The Shire Horses took the two two albums with parodies and also played at the Glastonbury Festival.

After the last show as Mark and Lard 2004 Marc Riley moved to digital channel BBC 6 Music.
