Marcelová

Marcelová ( 1945 to 1948 Slovak " Marcelove Kesy "; Hungarian Marcelháza - in the period 1942-1948 Marcelkeszi ) is a municipality in south-western Slovakia.

The place is located in the Danube lowland and is located 16 km east of Komárno. With its almost 3,900 inhabitants, it is the second largest after Nesvady (rural ) community of Okres Komárno. The population is constituted 88.5 % of Hungarians, 9.9% of Slovaks and 1.5% of Roma.

The territory of the municipality has been inhabited since the Iron Age. In addition, they found several finds from the Bronze Age, from the time of the migration and the invasion of Hungarian tribes. The town was first mentioned in 1353 as Nagkezeu. Until 1919 it belonged to the county Komárom the Kingdom of Hungary, after which they came to the newly formed Czechoslovakia. 1938-1945 she was on the basis of the First Vienna Award once again part of Hungary, in 1942, the town was enlarged by integrating it with Krátke Kesy (Hungarian Kurtakeszi ) and received the new Hungarian name Marcelkeszi, from 1945 to 1948 then according to Slovak Marcelove Kesy. In 1926, parts of the municipality spun and connected to the municipal area of ​​Šrobárova, 1956 more community lands of Patince were awarded.

The municipality is divided into the districts Marcelová and Krátke Kesy.
