Marcus Kimball, Baron Kimball

Marcus Richard Kimball, Baron Kimball ( born October 18, 1928 in London, † March 26, 2014 ) was a British politician of the Conservative Party and Life Peer.

Life and career

Kimball was born in 1928 in the London district of Marylebone. He attended Eton College and Trinity College. He was working as a farmer and was an insurance agent for Lloyd 's of London.

In 1955 he joined unsuccessfully in constituency Derby South.

He was from 1955 to 1962 Councillor of Rutland County Council and commanded a squadron of the Leicestershire Yeomanry. There he became Lieutenant in 1947 and Captain in 1952 and Major in 1955.

Kimball was a hunter, and in 1952 and 1953, joint master of the Fitzwilliam Hunt and the Cottesmore Hunt From 1953 until 1958. During the British Field Sports Society from 1966 to 1982 he was Chairman ( Chairman ) and from 1996 to 1998 chairman. Since 1998 he has been Deputy Chairman ( Deputy President ). He had also held senior positions in the areas of greyhound racing, show jumping and horse breeding organizations, as well as the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons.

After a court ruled that he had dismissed his housekeeper unfair, he paid her compensation, which she donated to the part.

Kimball represented 1969-1982 PC to the Board ( Council) from the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, where he was an Honorary Associate in 1982.

From 1982 to 1991 he was an external member of the Executive Board ( Council) of Lloyd's. In Southeast Assured Tenancies he was 1988-1996 Chairman ( Chairman ). From 1989 to 1994 he was Chairman of the Fire Arms Consultative Committee. From 1989 to 1997 he held this office at University of Cambridge Veterinary School Trust. When British Greyhound Racing Fund Ltd. He was Chairman of the 1993 to 1996.

In 1989 he was president of the Hunters Improvement Society. From 1991 to 1999 he was president of the Olympia International Show Jumping Championships, as well as from 1992 to 1997 at the British Institute of Innkeeping.

He was Vice President and member of the Trusteeship Council ( trustee ) of the Old Carnegie Museum in Melton Mowbray.

Membership in the House of Commons

In 1956 he was elected at a by-election for the constituency of Gainsborough to the House. He held until 1983 This mandate. He was succeeded by Edward Leigh.

Membership in the House of Lords

Kimball was appointed Life peer as Baron Kimball, of Easton in the County of Leicestershire on 9 May 1985. His inaugural address was delivered on 13 November 1985.
