Marinette Marine

The Marinette Marine Corporation is an American shipyard, which is part of Fincantieri since 1 January 2009.

History

Marinette Marine was founded in 1942 when there was the demand for ships built by the Second World War was at its peak. The shipyard is located on the Menominee River near Marinette, Wisconsin. By his own admission, the shipyard has already built 1300 ships.

Main customers of the yard are private companies, as built and Marinette Marine to build more of the Staten Iceland Ferries and icebreakers for use on the Great Lakes. But for the government, the shipyard worked. So they built for the United States Navy tug of Powhatan and (partially) the Natick - class minesweepers and the Avenger - class. As of 2005, Marinette Marine built for Lockheed Martin, the first Littoral Combat Ship Freedom Class, the USS Freedom ( LCS -1). Even for the United States Coast Guard cutters were built.
