Maritzburg United F.C.

Maritzburg United is a South African football club from Pietermaritzburg. The club currently playing in the highest South African league, the Premier Soccer League.

History

The club was founded in 1979 under the name Maritzburg United Football Club. The development of the club is closely connected with the name of Kadodia brothers. After the first league game law ( franchise license ) was purchased from financial stricken club Tembisa Classic in 2005, professional football was made possible in Pietermaritzburg. After a descent of the club has been playing the 2008/ 09 season back in the Premier Soccer League.

Since 2009 Maritzburg United is trained with a break of ten months of the German football coach Ernst Middendorp. On 12 March 2011 he was released early from his contract, but set back in January 2012.

For the 2012/13 season the club engaged with Delron Buckley a long-standing professional 1st and 2nd Bundesliga. In addition to Buckley from Karlsruher SC also moved from Orlando Smeekes Wehen to the South African first division.
