Mart Siimann

Mart Siimann ( born September 21, 1946 in Kilingi - Nõmme ) is an Estonian politician. He was on March 17, 1997 to March 25, 1999 Prime Minister of the Republic of Estonia.

Mart Siimann laid in 1965 graduated from high school in Tartu from 1965 to 1971 and studied at the University of Tartu. From 1971 to 1975 he was employed as a psychologist and assistant director on a working research institute. From 1975 to 1982 he was a research associate at the University of Tartu, before he worked from 1982 to 1987 as editor and deputy program director at the Estonian Television ( Eesti Televisioon ). From 1987 to 1989, he assumed the post of Director at the Estonian Broadcasting ( Eesti Raadio ).

After regaining independence Estonia was Siimann Mart from 1989 to 1992 director of the Estonian television and from 1992 to 1995 managing a company specializing in television advertising marketing agency. From 1997 to 1999 he was chairman of the Estonian Coalition Party ( Koonderakond ), which existed until 2000. From 1995 to 1997 and from 1999 to 2003 he was a member of the Estonian Parliament ( Riigikogu ).

He is since 2001 Chairman of the Estonian Olympic Committee ( Eesti Olümpiakomitee - EOK ).
